Review on Kaleidoscope by Patsy Clairmont.

Proverbs is a collection of bites of wisdom. Tips to live by. Yet, while Proverbs is the book of wisdom, sometimes when reading thru the book of Proverbs I don't always feel wiser after reading a chapter or a verse.

Clairmont cleverly uses stories, analogies, and humor to explore the book of Proverbs. Clairmont also takes a personal approach to guide the reader thru the book Proverbs. Her approach makes you feel as if you are going thru the journey with her, not after her. Her stories are easy to relate to, and make you laugh, at her experience and yourself.

Kaleidoscope can be used as a devotional, as the chapters are about 1-2 pages each. Also there are thought provoking questions after each section, and verses from Proverbs and other books of the Bible to go with each chapter.

So, if your looking for a new way to explore Proverbs, Patsy Clairmont's book Kaleidoscope will help you do that, and help you apply the bits of wisdom as well.

Check Out The Voice

When I ordered The Voice I was a skeptic. I thought The Voice would be another seeker friendly version and water down the beautiful message of the Gospel. BUT, I was happy to be proven wrong. After comparing The Voice to traditional translations like The New King James, New American Standard, and New International Version, I found that The Voice did a surprisingly great job of sticking to the original meaning.

I would highly recommend The Voice for new believers, and people who did not grow up in the church. The Voice uses words that clearly communicate the meaning of the passage without deviating from the meaning of the original text and without the use of hard to understand Christian lingo.

For people who enjoy studying God’s word, the commentaries within the text will help bring insight into difficult to understand passages and phrases. One thing that I enjoyed about the commentaries is that they integrated into the text. So, you don’t have to stop reading to read the additional insights that are normally in the margins. Also, the Voice does add some phrases to the original text, but it is done with the purpose of helping the readers better understand the passage, and the additional text is clearly marked in italics.

So, whether your new to the Bible or a veteran Bible reader The Voice will give you a fresh new perspective on the love story of God for His people.

The Voice is published by Thomas Nelson Publishers.
